Graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique.
After an early career in the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), Bernard Sinou became the Deputy General Director and a member of the executive board of the Caisse d'Epargne Provence-Alpes-Corse bank.
Between 1992 and 1999, he was the Managing Director of Services for the Rhône-Alpes Region and then for the city of Nice.
In 2001, Mr. Sinou joined SNCF, France’s national railway company. He was the head of the President's Cabinet, before being appointed as the Director of Public Transportation and a member of the Executive Committee. In 2006, he became the Chairman and CEO of EFFIA, a subsidiary of SNCF.
In 2009, he was appointed as the Managing Director of the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In September 2012, Mr. Sinou joined Institut Mérieux as Vice President for Public Affairs.
At the same time, from September 2012 to December 2015, he assumed the role of General Manager of the Foundation for the University of Lyon and since January 2016, he is the Chairman of Institut Bioforce.
Since October 2016, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Institut Merieux.
